Community Service Opportunities

Prayerfully consider how one or more of the following opportunities could allow you and your family to invest in God’s Kingdom:

  1. Back-to-School Supply Drive:  it’s not too late to help out less fortunate families at Memorial Parkway Elem.  Bring your donated items to the church office by Oct. 17.
  2. Sponsor a PTA Membership:  The PTA @ MPE makes a huge impact on the MPE campus with classroom equipment, teacher appreciation, volunteering, and campus beautification just to name a few.  Consider donating $6/membership to MPE PTA.  See the church office for more information.
  3. Feeding B4 Feasting:  It is our desire to feed the hungry before we, ourselves, feast on Thanksgiving Day.  That is the idea behind Feeding B4 Feasting, the time of year when we provide Thanksgiving meals for the customers of Katy Christian Ministries.  This year, we are accepting donations through Nov. 7.  On that morning, CSCK families will decorate boxes and fill them with all the donated ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal.  Please consider helping in the following ways: (a) Pluck feathers from a turkey on one of the posters in the Fellowship Hall and bring the non- perishable items listed on the feathers. (b) In lieu of providing food (particularly perishables like turkeys, pies, breads, etc) please donate grocery store gift cards from local grocery stores. (c) Write a letter to the family who will receive the meal. (d) Pray for the families receiving the meals.
  4. Katy Home Savers Association (KHSA) is hosting a weekend project November 5 to 7 to restore a home in the Katy area.  KHSA seeks… (1) to aid and assist disadvantaged senior citizens in the tri-county area (Fort Bend, Harris, and Waller) and disabled Katy residents in maintaining a safe home environment; (2) to develop charitable programs to enhance the quality of life of disadvantaged Katy senior citizens and disabled residents through home improvement; and (3) to develop and share education information on maintaining a safer home environment. This weekend project will consist of interior and exterior work from replacing siding to scraping and painting, all the way to inside framing and sheetrock work.  We are going to put a crew together so if you are skilled in any of these areas and want to serve, or if you are warm body who likes to get your hands dirty and work hard showing the mercy of Christ to someone in need, then please contact Nathan to sign up for this mission opportunity (ncarico@gmail.com).  Lunches and drinks will be provided.
