“…it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath…”
When we come together on the first day of the week, we remember Christ’s finished work and thus rest from our own efforts of earning God’s favor. This is an important day. In the New Testament, the day before was known as “preparation day.” Thought was given early in the week so that when their day of worship came, they were prepared to focus it truly upon God.
I want to encourage families to prepare themselves to participate in worship and am publishing the worship liturgy to aid you.
Worship is laid out after the pattern of the Lord’s Prayer. That invites us to remember that worship is a dialogue between us and God, telling us the story of salvation and directing us toward the mission of God. Note the Scripture selections and songs used throughout as they direct us to God’s throne with a particular emphasis, culminating in the sermon.
