Serving the Arc of Katy

Supporting Arc in its mission to love and serve a largely overlooked population in Katy matches Cornerstone’s mission quite well as we seek to be about renewing our families, our city and our world by bringing faith and life together in Christ.  Let us live out the Gospel alongside the Arc students and volunteers and shower them with acts of love and service while they are here this summer.  Make it your summer mission!

Who:  The Arc of Katy works to create opportunities for all children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) that enable each person to be a participating and respected member of our community and to grow in mind, body and spirit. Resources in their vision include, but are not limited to:   Day Activity Programs, Expanded Adult Activities, Respite Care, Group Homes & other Residential Services, Family Counseling & Support Education. The Arc would like to thank Cornerstone Church for allowing them to use part of our campus. If you would like to know more about their program, please call 832-754-9802.

When:  The Arc of Katy camp schedule is Mondays through Thursdays, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. over  four camp sessions (Session 1:  6/11 – 6/28;  Session 2:  7/2 – 7/12 [no camp 7/4];  Session 3:  7/16 – 8/2;  Session 4:  8/6 – 8/23).  We are aiming for two Cornerstone volunteers on campus each day.  Contact Carol Kutzer ( or Beverly Tucker ( to sign up for a shift.

What:  The Arc needs adult volunteers during their sessions to help out in various ways.  You do not need any special skills – just love them.

  • Camp Volunteer – You can play with the campers/students during recess, help out with security, spend time assisting the teachers with the different activities throughout the day or shadow a student and be their helper.  Just ask, “How can I help?  Where do you need me?”
  • Lunch Service – We will serve lunch to the campers and volunteers on the first day of each camp session. (See above schedule.)  If you are interested in serving or providing menu items please contact Linda Cover (
  • Indoor Mini Carnival – Date to be determined.  Help plan the games and activities or just be there and help out.  This event will be during the camp day.
