Later in September we will begin a new sermon series on the book of Nehemiah, who provides dozens of practical—and essential—lessons on leadership. This is my second week of studying the book and its background in preparation for the series, and I must say the lessons have me pumped! I can’t help but think that God has providentially put this on my mind as we enter the home stretch of the Leadership Development Strategy Team’s work on introducing a plan to help us do a better job of developing Godly leaders for service in the Church, the family, the workplace, and our community. Here is a sampling of some of the lessons that we will consider first:
- How does a leader discern his calling?
- How does a leader get started?
- How does a leader face challenges?
- What can you expect from a leader?
- …and more.
These “lessons on leadership” are not limited to those in formal leadership positions. If you are a follower of Christ, then you are an influencer in this world. That means that these “lessons on leadership” are lessons that will help you wherever God has placed you, whether your main role is a CEO, a housewife, a teenager, a middle manager, a team member, or a friend. Come learn from Nehemiah!
