Hopefully you took away convictions that God aimed specifically at you. I did.
Friday night Dr. Keesee hit me with two things: 1) missionaries aren’t “super” Christians. They are just like you and me. They are just carrying the gospel further away. All of us carry the gospel with us because we bear the name of Christ. We are all missionaries. 2) We limit God in the way we pray. Rather than hear Jesus’ teaching, “Ask, and you will receive,” as a real invitation, we tend to ask only for what we can conceive (at least I do). We must remember that God is much more ready to answer than we are to ask. He has no limits, so why should our prayers? When we direct them at His glory and His Kingdom, we should be confident and pray big.
Saturday I was reminded again that missions work is all around us and it doesn’t require traveling to the ends of the earth to be faithful to the Great Commission.
Sunday morning Dr. Keesee shared a memorable thought: “You can’t save your life, you can only spend it. So spend it well.” Oh, how we must remember that! Christ promises to be with us and He is enough! Isn’t that what we profess? This means we are free to take risks for the Kingdom as we take up our own crosses to follow.
