Music Service Opportunities

“Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.”  Psalm 100:2

We are looking to organize a choir of adult and youth voices (grades 6 and up) to prepare a special A Cappella arrangement on October 26th during the offertory in commemoration of Reformation Sunday.   We will be singing hymn #1, “All People That on Earth Do Dwell”, which is historically known as “Calvin’s Reformation Hymn” and “The Old 100th”, because of its association with Psalm 100.  This nearly 500 year old hymn is sung to the melody of the Doxology.  I have piano recordings (key-G) of the 4 vocal parts for your preparation.  If you are interested and know your vocal part, or even if you have no clue what part your voice is best suited for, please let me know and I will send you the recordings via email. The parts will also be posted on the Planning Center.   Practices will be on Saturday October 18th (9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.) and again for 30 minutes on Sunday the 19th immediately following worship.  If you come prepared with your part, practice will go more smoothly.  Please try to make at least one of these two practices if you plan to participate.  We will have a final run through on October 26th (8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.).

In addition, I will be looking for adult ladies and young ladies (grades 5 and up) to participate in a special ensemble for the Christmas season.  We plan to sing “All Is Well” by Michael W. Smith.  More information on the ladies’ Christmas ensemble to come in the near future.

Lastly, Carter invites adults and youth who are preparing their musical talents to put them in service to the church as an offertory or prelude.  You can speak to Jeremy Smith or Kathy Jorgensen if you or a member of your family feel called to serve in this capacity.
