What Does 2:42 Mean Anyway?

by Carol on October 30, 2014

As our first 2:42 Lunch approaches we want ensure that everyone is as excited as we are about coming together for good food, great fellowship and a little bit of fun.   Over the past several weeks, we’ve been announcing that the Red Oak Grill is catering the meal this Sunday.  They have made us an extremely great deal on the food – so please frequent the Red Oak Grill and tell them how much we appreciate their support.  Why are we catering?  Because preparing a meal added a burden to our families and we want our times together to be as stress free as possible.  So now you don’t have to worry about forgetting to prepare something or trying to figure out how you were going to keep your dish hot.  No more mad dashes after worship to pick up a fast food offering.

And what does 2:42 mean anyway?  It does NOT refer to the time we are eating.  We will continue to eat immediately following worship.  And we hope to be done and cleaned up by 1:15 so families can get home and enjoy the rest of their sabbath day together.  2:42 is a reference to the fellowship of believers in Acts 2:42 which reads,

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

I hope that clears up a few misconceptions I’ve been hearing this past week.  If you have any other questions please feel free to contact the church office at 281.579.1080 or info@CornerstoneKaty.org.  Hope to see you there!

coming up

let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.Galatians 6:9–10
