Help Us Serve the Arc of Katy

by Carol on April 23, 2015

There are several ways you can help us be a blessing to the Arc campers while they are on campus this summer. If you would like to donate supplies please visit this website:   https://www.volunteersignup.org/ARX4E or you may donate money by dropping a check made out to Cornerstone EPC (memo:  Arc of Katy) in the offering plate.  We will need volunteers on the following dates.  Contact Linda Cover, Kim Elgie, May Gourlay, Carol Kutzer, Joanne Taylor, Beverly Tucker or Lee Williams if you are interested.

Serve Lunch/Crafts/Sports –  June 10, July 1 and 22 – The first Wednesday of each of Arc’s summer sessions will be “Cornerstone Day”. We will do a Community Craft at 10am followed by lunch served by Linda Cover and her team.  After lunch, May Gourlay will coordinate a few games and activities with the campers.  Community Crafts this summer will include (1) tie-dyed pillow cases for the patients at Katy Texas Children’s Hospital; (2) cat toys and doggie treats for the animals at CAPS; and (3) another project still to be determined.  We also plan to schedule field trips for the Arc campers to deliver their creations.  Fun!!!

Carnival –  July 28 – Joanne Taylor is coordinating a day of fun and activities for the Arc campers.  Our theme will be State Fairs.  We will need lots of volunteers for this event.  This would be a great opportunities for families as children are able to volunteer.  We will definitely need someone to teach the kids a song to sing on Arc Sunday.

ARC Sunday –  August 2 – We will invite all the ARC campers & their families to join us for worship.  Following the service there will be a 2:42 Lunch where we will have the opportunity to meet and greet the Arc families and fellowship with them over a good meal.  Everyone should wear Arc blue!

Open House –  probably August 13 – Each year, the Arc hosts an Open House to show off all the campers learned throughout the summer.  Everyone is invited.  Cornerstone volunteers will coordinate and serve a reception following the Open House.  Beverly Tucker is the coordinator for this event.  Let her know if you have a special treat you would like to provide.

coming up

let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.Galatians 6:9–10
