KCM News

KCM Apple Tree Project Needs Participation: This Sunday, July 26th will be your last chance to help out a needy child purchase their school supplies for the new school year. We have 17 apples left with a total amount of $350 still needing to be raised.  The apples are located on a tree outside the sanctuary.  Donation amounts vary from $15 – $30.  Simply, pick an apple, write a check out in the noted amount to KCM and keep the red apple as your tax receipt.

KCM Superstore Opening Soon! Katy Christian Ministries is in need of volunteers to help get their new Super Store ready so they can move in & open for business. Please stick around after church to enjoy fellowship and lunch with your brothers & sisters in Christ.  If your last name begins with A-L please bring a side dish or vegetables, M-S please bring a dessert, and T-Z please bring a main dish.  Please bring enough to feed 2 families or more.  If you don’t want to bring anything (or forget) please feel free to eat anyway and consider helping in the clean up as your contribution.  Join us after lunch for the monthly visit to Sunrise Assisted Living Center at 2:00 p.m.

Lost and Found Items

In case you did not know we have a Lost & Found Box–and it is getting quite full.  The box is located on the white bookshelves in the Conference/Copy Room.  However, for the next week or so the box will be placed on the conference table to make it easier to find.  Items remaining in the Lost & Found box after July 1 will be donated to KCM.

Baby Bottles Due this Sunday

It’s time to turn in your Pregnancy Help Center baby bottles.  Please bring them with you this Sunday.  Karon McMahan or Patti Uresti will be happy to collect them from everyone.

Congregational Meeting this Sunday

Following worship service this Sunday there will be a brief congregational meeting for the purpose of  electing two members from the congregation to serve on the Officer Nominating Committee.

It’s time to pack up and head out!

If you have some free time this Saturday morning we need “all hands on deck” to pack up VBS and store it away until next year.  We should start at 9:00 a.m. in the gym.  If you loaned items for use at VBS this would be a good time to pick them up.  Borrowed items not picked up on Saturday will be placed in the Copy/Conference Room for pick up on Sunday morning.  Thank you to everyone to loaned us all the great stuff!

VBS Update

We are no longer accepting registration for VBS.  We have reached our maximum enrollment.  Thank the Lord for so many wonderful students/backpackers.

Sponsor a VBS student in Reachout in Russian

VBS students will be encouraged to do chores around the house to earn money for this summer’s mission project,  Reachout in Russian.  Another way they will be able to raise money is to find sponsors in the Scaling the Peak contest.  Scaling the Peak is the friendly competition between the three VBS teams:  Trail Blazers, Mountaineers and Trekkers.  Students earn points for scripture memorization, trail chores, acts of service, attendance, etc. Won’t you consider sponsoring a VBS student?  For every 25 points a student earns you could pledge 1 cent.  That’s $40 for every 1,000 points!  Donations will be due by Sunday, June 14th.  Sponsors should make their checks payable to:  Cornerstone Church.  A sign-up sheet will be available in the foyer of the sanctuary this Sunday.

VBS News

Upward Bound is set to begin next week!  We have an urgent need for sticks/twigs.   We need about 100 sticks approximately 10 inches long.  If you plan to do some pruning (or see someone in your neighborhood pruning) we would love to have your 10 inch cuttings.  Additionally, we could use four large sticks approximately 5 ft long.

If you have camping gear (tents, stoves, canoe, kayak, oars, laterns, sleeping bags, backpacks, etc) we would love to borrow them next week to decorate the campus.  You may bring them to church this Sunday and place them in the copy/conference room.  However, if the items are big, please bring them at 4:00 p.m.  At that time we will begin to decorate the gym, which is where the large items will be located.
