This Sunday: No Lunch, Yes Sunrise service

Since we will be hosting a catered breakfast on Easter morning, there will be no community lunch after worship this Sunday. We will still be at the Sunrise Assisted Living center at 2pm. If you’ve not been, it is a way for you to meet some of the residents and bless them just by your presence. Bring your whole family and let your kids be involved in serving others.

Maundy Thursday

maundy-thursdayOn the Thursday before Easter, we remember the night of Jesus last supper with his disciples. On that night he told them that his time was come and that he was going to his death. As he passed the bread around the room he linked it to his own body that he was willingly laying down for them. He said, “this is my body, which is given for you.” After the supper he took the cup filled with wine and passed it around the room explaining that its significance was in its link to his own blood. He said, “this cup is the new covenant in my blood. Drink it in remembrance of me.” In that meal was a proclamation of death and a sealing of new life, all at the same time. We remember this night with a reading from the gospels and the taking of communion.

Thursday, 7pm, April 9th.

The Power of One – One mentor, one student, one hour per week

KEYS brings adult role models into Katy ISD schools to motivate, encourage and inspire students on the brink of success.  Mentors meet with their student on campus at a pre-designated time each week.  As mentor and student build their relationship, they decide together how to spend their mentoring time.  Whether spent playing games, reading or just talking, that one hour a week makes a tremendous difference in the life of a child.

To be a KEYS Mentor, you need ~

  • A belief in the potential of every child
  • Criminal history background check in compliance with the FCRA
  • One hour per week to spend with a child, on campus during the school day, during the school year
  • Participation in a brief campus KEYS orientation before you begin
  • Successful completion of a KEYS application and subsequent approval process

It’s Time to Paint!!!

The painting job in the gym tomorrow will require lots of people to come help out.  The hall, the foyer, the bathrooms, doors and wood work all need to be painted.  (If time allows the offices and kitchen need painting too.)  Work will start at 8am.  If you have painting tools bring them; but be sure to label them.

If you have time to help out tonight you can assist with prepping the areas to be painted (taping, laying dropcloths and cutting in edges).  Call Jack for more information (281) 701-5873.
