Psalm 22

In many of the messianic psalms, we find that we are not alone in our suffering; that the one who loves us most understands us best. And so we are comforted and filled with hope.

But how so? If these messianic psalms are experiences of the messiah, how are we to pray them? Jesus quotes this psalm as he hangs upon the cross, which he did to save the world. This isn’t exactly an experience that we go through. If the Psalms are to be prayers of God’s people, how are we to pray a messianic psalm?
