God Alone (Ps 62)

Psalm 62
People like to say in our culture, “follow your heart.” I get that, though its completely unnecessary. We always follow our heart. The heart is the “control center” of life. It’s where we make decisions. It may take into account reason and logic but it is not driven by them. This is why you can make all the pro/con lists you want when trying to make an important life decision but in the end you throw it out and you go with your heart, or some might say, “your gut.” That’s the way of it.
This is why it is important to stop in the psalms and meditate on them. Let them speak to your heart with the impressions they paint of the psalmist’s experience. Like impressionist paintings, they reflect reality in a way that invites you to feel the way the artist felt when he looked upon it.
So, what does the psalmist want us to feel as we walk our way through with this psalm? He’s inviting us to feel the importance of having absolute confidence in God alone.
