Why am I here?
When God says, Let us make man in our image, he gives us a purpose. We are image-bearers of God. We are to resemble God. We are to reflect His image. The Westminster larger catechism puts it this way,
Man’s chief and highest end is to glorify God, and fully to enjoy him forever.
So, how do we do glorify God? If we are reflections of God, then we are to do what we see God doing, toward the same end God is doing it. When we read these first pages of Genesis we find God working and blessing his creation in the context of relationship.
