The Memorial Parkway Christmas Parade is fast approaching. We are looking forward to meeting our neighbors and encourage everyone at Cornerstone to participate. If you cannot march in the parade, please consider providing cookies or other holiday treats for the cookie exchange following the parade. Here is the post from Memorial Parkway giving more details….
Calling all elves! Santa will be coming through Memorial Parkway on Saturday, December 22nd in a neighborhood parade at high noon! He’ll be reviewing his List while riding through Park Brush, Park York, Park Meadow and Cimarron on his way to the Memorial Parkway Clubhouse for a wee snack before heading back to the North Pole. The parade will go from Memorial Parkway Junior High to the neighborhood clubhouse starting at 12/noon.
Are you excited to bake and taste all the delicious cookies that the holidays bring? We will have a Neighborhood Cookie Exchange after the parade at the Memorial Parkway Clubhouse! Please drop off your best family recipe cookies in a set of at least two dozen for a festive neighborhood exchange of merriment! We’d like to have the cookies dropped off between 10am-11am. Please have cookies with nuts or common allergens identified, if possible. Santa may stay a little longer for photos, if the kids are on the “Nice” list!
Following the Santa Parade, the cookie exchange will take place from 1pm – 2:30pm in the Memorial Parkway Clubhouse.
If you took an ornament from the angel tree for the Krause House, those items are due this coming Sunday, December 2. Please place them, unwrapped in the large gift box in the foyer at the foot of the tree. Please continue to pray for Caitlin throughout the holiday season.
If you are interested in participating in the Memorial Parkway Christmas Parade on December 22 there is now an online SignUp. You can sign up to march in the parade or bring cookies. Sign up here.

Beginning November 11 you will be able to select an ornament from the Christmas tree in the foyer. On each ornament will be a gift item for Caitlin, the 14-year-old girl Cornerstone has “adopted” this Christmas. Or it might be a generic item for any of the other 60 girls at Krause. The Krause House has very specific instructions on what items to avoid. Before shopping, please review them here: Krause House Instructions.
The items are due to Cornerstone by December 2 and should be unwrapped. Please pray for Caitlin and for Krause House in general. For more information about Krause House please visit: Upbring.org/Krause.
This Saturday, December 2nd, Bridges Int’l is excited to host a Christmas Party for their international student friends! Their hope is that as they celebrate Christmas with their students and share the gospel through the Christmas story that many will learn the truth of Jesus and believe in Him. They need help with food for the Christmas party. Will you consider helping?
Here are the things needed:
– Main Dishes: Rice with veggies, Spaghetti with sauce (no meat), Macaroni & Cheese, Vegetable Lasagna, Red Beans with Rice (no pork), and Chicken (baked/fried)
– Side Dishes: Sweet or Mashed Potatoes, Beans or Peas, Asian Noodles Summer Squash Corn or any other vegetable
– Salads: Potato Salad, Carrots, Apple, Raisin, Raw Veggies, Spinach Salad
– Desserts: Cookies, Pies, Cakes, Fresh Fruit
If you do not want to prepare food, money is acceptable and needed to purchase extra food such as ethnic food or pizzas.
They need the food by 4:00 p.m. (this Saturday, Dec. 2nd) at the BSM (4801 Calhoun Rd, Houston, TX 77004)
Also, you are welcome to attend the Christmas party (5-9pm) and help with set up before or clean up after the party.
Please e-mail Lily Wu at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 318-525-6708 (cell#) with any questions.
Thank you so much for considering their need!
Bridges’ biggest need is prayer. Please pray for the following:
- that God will help the UH Bridges staff with all the details and planning for the Christmas party
- for God to soften the hearts of the international students to be open to Jesus
- for many students to accept Christ through hearing the gospel and the true meaning of Christmas
This year Cornerstone will be supporting Pregnancy Help Center by offering a PHC Christmas Tree, just as we have the past two years. For three weeks, beginning Sunday, November 26, we will have the tree in the Sanctuary Foyer filled with “ornaments”. Each paper ornament will have an item printed on it that you may purchase to help the women and their families – anything from items for the babies and toddlers, to maternity clothes, to Gift Cards. We will have a Christmas box near the tree where you can leave your donated items. Our last day to receive donations will be Sunday, December 10.
The mission at the PHC is to minister to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of women and their extended families as they deal with the circumstances surrounding a present, potential or former pregnancy, by sharing the truth and love of Jesus Christ. They provide pregnancy tests, peer mentoring for men and women, educational classes and the Earn While You Learn (EWYL) program. PHC encourages and teaches healthy parenting. They also provide abortion recovery classes for those that are in need of healing.
Sunday, December 24 at 6:00 p.m. Come celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus in this joint worship service with Cosecha de Vida. Enjoy an evening of music and sharing the Christmas story from scripture. Childcare for infants only.
