S’mores & More Nov 1

Ladies, do you like chocolate? How about a fire on a cool autumn evening? If you answered “yes” to either of those questions please join us for “S’mores and More” on the church patio Thursday evening, November 1 at 6:30. We will provide s’mores fixings and coffee! You bring a shareable snack and a beverage if you would like something other than coffee.

This will be our first “official” women’s fellowship for this year. Why do we have “official” fellowships? The simplest answer is that life is busy and most of us find it hard to slow down and take time to get to know other women. It’s hard enough to even have a conversation with your close friends much less someone you don’t know well. We hope this is that opportunity to get to know other women in the church. After all we are sisters for all eternity!

Another reason is that “The God of heaven and earth is a personal God who enters into an intimate relationship with us. Our relationships with each other are to mirror God’s relationship with us.”As we know each other better our prayer would be that we as women would collectively bring a “deeper sense of community and compassion to our church family.” (Susan Hunt in The Legacy of Biblical Womanhood).

Women need fellowship. One thing I do know is that I need help with this. It does not come naturally to me! Come on November 1 and let’s get to know one another better. Let’s eat chocolate and chat by the fire. Let’s “help a sister out”!

From, Doniece Russell

Remembering Harvey Lunch – Help Needed

We are two weeks away from the Remembering Harvey Sunday.  We still need bread, baked beans, tossed salads, chips & dip, fruit trays, coleslaw and a few volunteers.Sign-up to help!

August 26 will mark 1 year since Hurricane Harvey devastated Katy and the Houston area. It’s affected all of us in one way or another. Let’s come together and celebrate God’s goodness through it all in worship and share stories with one another over a barbecue lunch. There is something healing about shared experiences worked through in community.
